Dr. Eugene S. Perry, 76, a geologist and former resident of Danville, was found dead in his home at 1322 Washington, Golden, Colo., yesterday morning. He had apparently died in his sleep. He had lived at Golden five years. Born June 6, 1892, in Danville, he was a son of John Roland and Alma Palmer Perry. His boyhood home was on what is now N. Logan Avenue. His schooling was at Lincoln and Garfield grade schools and he was graduated from Danville High. He then attended the University of Wisconsin and obtained his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from the University of Kentucky. He was awarded his PhD degree from the University of Chicago. Dr. Perry was then head of the department of geology at the Montana School of Mines as a full professor for 27 years, 1925-52. He also served as chief geologist for the Montana Bureau of Mines during this period. He then taught from 1952 until 1962 at the University of South Carolina at Columbia before retiring. Dr. Perry was married, May 29, 1918, in Danville to Florence C. Cooper who survives and is a patient in a nursing home at Denver, Colo. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. R. J. (Jacqueline Rademacher of Denver and Mrs. Don (Patricia) Burke, Danville, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Services will be Thursday morning at the Fairmount Funeral Home in Denver. The body will then be flown here to the Pape Memorial Home. Services here will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. O. D. Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
