John Peterson, late captain of the watch in the postoffice department at Washington, D.C., died at his home in Linnsburg at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1901, aged 57 years, 6 months and 29 days. He was born two miles east of Mace January 31, 1844, and married to Emaline Linn Long March 23, 1865. He leaves a wife, four daughters, one son, twelve grandchildren, four brothers and one sister to mourn his demise. He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Union. He served with Co. B, 10th Ind. Vol. infantry and was a member of Abe Lincoln Post, No. 24, and of Mace Lodge, No. 55, Knights of Pythias.
