  Ben Philkins, an inmate of the poor farm, committed suicide Monday night by hanging. He had been an inmate of that institution since the first of November and was a peculiar character, of whom little is known. His mind was unbalanced, and he had tried to commit suicide on several occasions. He was about 60 years of age. -s
