COVINGTON — Earl Martin Phillips, 79, Covington, died at 4:19 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2000 in Roudebush V.A. Medical Center, Indianapolis. He was born March 5, 1921 in Warren County, the son of Ransom M. Phillips and Gladys Ellingwood. He married Virginia R. McIntyre March 23, 1976 in Covington. She survives. He was a life resident of the State Line area of Warren County. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of State Line Christian Church, Williamsport American Legion Post #259 and Local 841 International Union of Operating Engineers. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sisters, Isabel Price, Danville, Ill. and Margaret (Carl) Allison, Covington; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Sprague. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial was in State Line Masonic Cemetery. – jlr
