STATE LINE, Ind. – Mrs. Gladys E. Phillips, 76, of State Line, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 3, 1978) at Lakeview Medical Center in Danville. She had been a patient a week and ill several years. A resident of State Line most of her life, she was a member of the State Line United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Mound and Kent Home Demonstration Club. Born Oct. 14, 1901, in Vermilion County, Ill., she was the daughter of Oliver and Ann Lee Ellingwood. She was married on Sept. 3, 1920, in State Line, to Ransom Phillips, who died Jan. 9, 1975. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Isabell) Price of Danville and Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Allison of Covington Route 2; a son, Earl of Covington; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the State Line United Methodist Church.   – jlr
