Harris H. Philpott, son of James S. and Abigail Day Philpott, was born in Jackson Twp, Fountain Count Indiana on Nov 29, 1858. He died at Lake View Hospital, Danville, Ill on Monday evening, Oct 12, 1936 at the age of 77 years 10 months and 13 days. Mr. Philpott recently suffered a broken hip from a fall and was immediately taken to Lake View Hospital for treatment when pneumonia developed and death ensued. He was married to Flora E. Lough Feb 21, 1883. To this union 3 children were born, Troy, Glee and Ted. For six years after his marriage, he engaged in farming but the major part of his active career was devoted to the drug business, in which activity he spent more than 30 years of which 17 were at Yeddo, 5 at Hillsboro and 10 at Indianapolis. Nine years ago he retired from the drug business and moved to a farm 3 miles south of Hillsboro where he lived until the death of his wife, Flora E. Philpott who passed away May 13, 1934. He was preceded in death not only by his wife, but also by both parents and his daughter, Glee McCormick, who died at Veedersburg in 1928. He is survived by two sons, Troy and Ted Philpott, both of Indianapolis 3 grandchildren, Wayne of Veedersburg, Mildred Hudson and Valerie Philpott both of Indianapolis; also by two brothers, William and John of Kingman and one sister, Zada Grimes of Wallace. Harris H. Philpott was a member of the Newlight Chrisitan Church at Yeddo. He was a man of pleasing personality a good conversationlist and made many friends. His death will be greatly mourned not only by his immedediate family but by all who knew him.
