Mrs. Tessie Lee Philpott, age 85, a resident of Covington for 45 years, died at 3:15 p. m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Rudisill Nursing Home. She had been ill for five years. Mrs. Philpott had been a patient at the Rudisill Nursing Home the past four years, the first two years she was at the Home in Crawfordsville and then was transferred to the Home here. Born June 25, 1877, in Wallace, she was the daughter of Albert C. and Rachael E. Roberts. She was married March 22, 1900, to Lee Philpott, who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1956. They had operated a shoe store in Covington for many years. Mrs. Philpott was a member of the Fifth St. Church of Christ and the Willing Workers Class. She had formerly taught school at Wallace. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Opal Keller of Chula Vista, Calif.; and a nephew, Montell Stonebraker of Darlington. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Fifth St. Church of Christ. The Rev. O. J. Thomas officiated. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace with the Hegg Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Richard Klage, Virgil McConnell, Robert Nicklas, Marion Keller, Roy Rogers and Amos Francis. -- typed by Walt W
