COVINGTON — Word was received here that Pfc. Delgar Ping Jr., 22, drowned Saturday at Carolina Beach, N. C. Pfc. Ping was the son of Delgar and Myrtle Holden Ping. He was born in Perrysville on May 2, 1931. Ping entered the service on Jan. 25, 1952. Before that time he worked in his father's general store. He had been stationed at Ft. Bragg, N. C., since Jan. 9, 1953. Surviving are the parents, two brothers, Richard and Bobby; a sister, Virginia; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ping, all of Covington and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The body will be brought to the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Walter Hoyt Legion Post 350 will conduct graveside rites. Other funeral arrangements are incomplete.   --typed by Walt W
