Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Oval Ping, 70, died at Lake View Hospital at 11:20 p.m. Saturday (March 7, 1970) where he had been a patient one day. Born in Brown County, Ind., Dec. 17, 1899, he was the son of Thomas and Louisa Hedrick Ping. He was married to Irene Williams Oct. 2, 1952 in Crawfordsville, Ind., and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Ival James of Harvey; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Nimz of Watseka and Mrs. Lulabell Portwood of Sheldon, Ill.; six stepsons, Larry, Robert, Ronnie and Dale Williams, all of Danville, William R. Williams of Chicago and Eugene Williams of Santa Ana, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Velgar of Perrysville, Ind., Lester and Ralph of Covington and Edgar of Danville, and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Lewis of Covington, Ind. Mr. Ping was a retired aide at the VA Hospital. The body is at the Lakeside Funeral Chapel where services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Robert Story officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.   --typed by Walt W
