PINKERTON, Bertha Smith Florey

Mrs. Bertha Pinkerton, 59 years old Veedersburg resident, died Monday at the Lake View hospital in Danville, Ill where she had been a patient for the past 10 days. Death followed an operation and occurred early that day. Mrs. Pinkerton was the daughter of Amos and Phoebe Alcar Smith, and was born on a farm near Covington on March 3, 1879. She was twice married. Her first marriage was to Richard Florey and following his death she was wed to Charles Pinkerton, also deceased. Surviving are three sons, John Florey of Tipton and Clifford and Carl Florey of Veedersburg; and three daughters, Mrs. Velma Shoaf and Mrs. Carrie Pickett, of Veedersburg and Ruth Ellen Pinkerton at home. Funeral services were held at the home of the son, Clifford Florey in Veedersburg at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and burial was made at the Beulah Cemetery near Newtown. Rev. Charles Howard had charge of the funeral service.
