Lemuel E. Pithoud 82 retired farmer passed away at his homestead and birthplace at 10:30 a.m. Monday Feb 8, 1960. He h ad been in critical condition since Friday when he suffered a coronary heart attack. Mr. P. was born at the homestead 2 mi. E of Kingman and So. on Rt 41 Feb 25, 1877 the only s/o Elisha and Magaret Ratcliff Pithoud, one of the pioneer families of the community. Mr. P was a lifelong resident of Mill Creek Township and a member of the 2nd graduating class of K HS in 1899. He was well known in political circuits as a prominent Democrat and served as Mill Creek Township Trustee from 1934-38 at which time t he Kingman school was remodelled and the high school gym erected. Mr. Pith oud was instrumental in securing the gym for the community. He was al so a member of the Kingman band for years and was active in many civic affairs of the town. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church surviving a re the wife, Velva Moore Pithoud; 5 children, Elisha Moore Pithoud of King man; Henry Lemuel Pithoud of Bloomingdale; Mrs. Franklin Beuser of Stroudsberg, PA; Mrs. Richard Lee Hathaway of Kingman and Mrs. Jake Lape of Danville, Ill and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in d. by 7 sisters; Hannah Baccus; Arilla Madden ; Juliette Ward; Delphina Alexander; Amy J Keller; Margaret Lindley and Delcie O. Pearson. Funeral services will be conducted at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev William Mayoh officiating. Burial in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. -- thanks to Betty D

Lemuel Pithoud, 82, retired farmer, died Monday at his home two miles east of Kingman, after suffering a heart attack on Friday. Born February 25 1877, he was the son of Elisha and Margaret Ratcliff Pithoud. He was a member of the second graduating class of Kingman High School, in 1899. Surviving are his wife, Velva Moore Pithoud; two sons, Elisha of Kingman a nd Henry of Bloomingdale; three daughters, Mrs. Franklin Buser of Straudsburg, Pa., Mrs. Richard Lee Hathaway of Kingman and Mrs. Jake Lape of Danville, Ill., and 15 grandchildren. Services were held at the Woodrow Funeral Home Thursday, with burial in t he Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.   -- thanks Betty - you rock!
