Source: Kingman Star Friday October 26, 1906

Last Friday afternoon in an attempt to cross the C.&E.I.  track in Attica, Bernard Poke was struck and almost instantly killed by a freight train.  Mr. Poke saw a portion of the train pass the crossing and supposed it all done, and attempted to cross the track but the train had only come uncoupled. Mr. Poke was struck by the rear end of the train, one leg was broken and he had two holes in his side, which caused his death early Saturday morning.   Physicians were called but to no avail. Bernard was about 23 years of age and is a son of the late Henry Poke.   He was a young man of good habits and was highly respected by all who knew him.   He leaves a mother and three sisters besides a host of friends to mourn his loss. -S
