Williamsport — (CNS) — Samuel Grant Pomeroy, 80, retired owner and publisher of the West Lebanon Gazette, died at 4:15 p. m. Tuesday (July 31, 1951) at his home in Williamsport after an illness of five months with a heart ailment. Mr. Pomeroy operated the West Lebanon newspaper 42 years before his retirement in 1942. He was born Dec. 5, 1870, in Williamsport, the son of Astley Cooper and Adeline M. Pomeroy. He was married in 1919 to Mary Katherine Hultz, who preceded him in death in 1934. He was a member of the Sons of the Colonial War, West Lebanon Camp 3388, Modern Woodmen of America, Williamsport Lodge 38, F&AM, and Lincoln Memorial Committee of the Tri-County Historical Society. He also was a director of the Warren County Federal Savings and Loan Association. Surviving are two nephews, Carl L. Pomeroy of Pasadena, Calif., and Cooper C. Clifton of Sarasota, Fla., and two cousins, Mrs. Bertha Smith and Leroy Stinespring, both of Williamsport. The body is at the Hamilton Funeral Home where it will remain for services at 3 p. m. DST Friday. The Rev. Carlyle Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery near Williamsport. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 p. m. Wednesday.   --typed by Walt W
