COVINGTON - Funeral services for Miller J. Port, age 57, of 14 Elmwood Drive, Lafayette, a former resident of the Covington area, who died Wednesday night, Feb. 24, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery there with the Zahn-Schneider Funeral Home, Lafayette, in charge of arrangements. Mr. Port, who had been hospitalized since Feb. 7, had been ill since last September. He was born Jan. 13, 1914, the son of George J. and Fannie Miller Port. He married Lucille M. Engle in Danville, Ill., in 1938 and she survives. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. He was a graduate of Covington High School and was reared in the Covington area. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: three sons, Gary, James and Kevin, all of Lafayette, and one grandchild. -- jlr
