POTOMAC - Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lanham-Wolfe Funeral Home for Glen Howard Porter, 83, of Potomac rural route. He died at 7:37 p.m. Sunday (July 30, 1978) at Lakeview Medical Center. He had been admitted there the day before. The Rev. Don Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Higginsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Born July 16, 1895, in Rising Sun, Ohio, he was the son of Perry Albert and Rose Etta Nabbs Porter. He was married Oct. 12, 1915, in Danville to Daisy Powell, who died Feb. 5, 1920. He was married July 9, 1931, at Covington, Ind., to Ethel Baker, who died March 25, 1949. Porter was employed by farmers in the Higginsville area for the past 70 years. His hobbies were gardening and farming. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Dempsey of Baldwin, N.Y., Mrs. Fern Hoskins of Hoopeston, Mrs. Charlene Hopkins of Leroy and Mrs. Doris Weed of Sterling; two sons, Howard of Danville and Ronald at home; and 11 grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a granddaughter, a brother and sister.   -- jlr
