VEEDERSBURG -- Charles M. Porterfield, 61-year-old resident of Marinette, Wis., died in an ambulance near Sterling Wednesday. He and his wife had been vacationing in Florida and were returning to their home last week when he was stricken with a heart attack near Madisonville, Ky. He spent four days in the Madisonville Hospital, but insisted on returning of his residence. An ambulance was employed to return him to his home. However, he suffered another heart attack as the ambulance neared Sterling. He was rushed to the office of Dr. Theodore Person but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the office. The body was taken to Danville, Ill., Wednesday and will be shipped to Marinette Friday. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a conductor before his retirement and was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Bessie.   --typed by Walt W
