Columbus Rice, 75 for many years a resident of Veedersburg died Saturday night at the county infirmary. The deceased was never married and until one week ago lived alone in Veedersburg. He was taken to the county home when he became ill and had no relatives to care for him. He was born in Illinois and his early life was spent in Ripley (sic), Iowa coming to Fountain County when quite young.  He has since resided here. One brother, William Rice, of Rippy, Iowa (sic) survives.  Harry Fishero, local undertaker, at Veedersburg went to the county home Sunday morning and brought the body to his undertaking establishment at Veedersburg.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bonebrake Church. Rev. MF Dawson, pastor of the United Brethren Church conducted the services and interment made in the cemetery nearby.
