RICE, George - 1915

– Crawfordsville Weekly Journal, August 13, 1915

"George Rice, 65 years old, died suddenly last night at his home in Newtown. He was an invalid and made his way about town and a wheelchair. He lived alone and went downtown last night and was on his way home when stricken. Mr. Rice succeeded in making his way home, where he called a physician by telephone. When the doctor arrived he found the patient in a serious condition and reported the matter to his relatives, his sister going to the home immediately. Every effort was made to save the life of the sick man but nothing could be done for him. Death was due to heart disease.

Mr. Rice's parents are dead but he is survived by two children, Mrs. Carl Merz and Lough Rice, both of Indianapolis. Also two sisters, Mrs. John Gephardt of Newtown and Mrs. Rachel Gilpin of Vernon Indiana.

The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Mr. Rice has a number of relatives living in Crawfordsville." - kbz
