Hillsboro—full military funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday for James L. Richards, World War I veteran, who died of a heart attack Sunday. The Rev. F. O. Riesinger officiated at Hillsboro Christian Church.  Pall bearers were Thomas Orrick and Hansel Cunningham of Waynetown, John Linville, Harold Duke, Archie Reynolds and Oscar Johns. Members of the Legion Auxiliary served as flower bearers and military service, held at Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, was conducted by Rolland Keeling as chaplain with Charles Humphreys as commander of firing squad composed of John Giovanini, Sim Booe and Glen Tinsley. Color Guard comprised of Thomas Brown, Orville Swearingen, Alfred Burk and Lawrence Davis, with Miss Ileen Thompson, Waynetown, as bugler. -s-

James L. Richards, 57, farmer and veteran of WW1, died suddenly of a heart attack about 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Oct 1 at his home east of Hillsboro. They had entertained his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Richards of Alamo at dinner Sunday and he was in his usual health until a few minutes before his death when he complained of a pin in his shoulder.  Mr. Richards was born May 8, 1887 in Champaign County, Illinois the son of Alonzo and Pamelia Richards.  He was married to Miss Bessie TIbbets.  He was a member of the Memorial Post 188 of the American Legion at Hillsboro.  Surviving are the widow; a son, Capt.
James Richards, Camp Kilmer, NJ; three brothers, Clarence of near Alamo; Eugene of Champaign, Ill; and Asa W. of Chicago, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller in Iowa and number of nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to the funeral home of Crumley and Son of Covington, to await the arrival of the son from New Jersey Tuesday evening the body was returned to the late home and funeral service held at Hillsboro Christian Church at 11 o'clock Thursday morning with Rev. FO Resiger pastor of Indianapolis, in charge. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Waynetown.   --- transcribed by kbz

Full military funeral service was held at 11:00 Thursday morning for James L. Richards veteran of WWI who died of a heart attack at his home near Hillsboro on Sunday Oct 1.  Memorial Post 188 American Legion of Hillsboro, had charge of the service. The Rev. FO Reisinger of Indianapolis local pastor officiated at the Christian Church with Mrs. Esther Harris and Mrs. Carol Myer singing, One Sweetly Solemn Thought
and God's Way is the Best Way, accompanied by mrs. Isa Livengood. The pall bearers were: Thomas Orrick and Hascel Cunningham of Waynetown; John Linville, Harold Duke, Archie Reynolds and Oscar Johns.  Members of the Legion Auxiliary served as flower bearers: Gladys Williams; Marie Crane; Julia Kay; Nellie EItnier; Lena Davis; Francis Barricklow; Cletus Burk; Phoebe Humphreys; Elsie Booe; Mary Elizabeth Laudeman and Mary Reynolds.

The military service held at the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown was conducted by Rolland Keeling as Chaplain; Charles Humphreys was commander of the firing squad; John Giovanini; Si mBooe and Glen
