Miss Mazie E11en Richardson, age 83, a resident of the Gessie and Rileysburg communities most of her life, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been admitted a few hours earlier. Miss Richardson had been a patient at the Rudisill Nursing Home in Covington since Dec. 20, 1965. She had been ill eight months and 10 days. She was born Oct. 31, 1882, in Burton County, Mo., the daughter of Homer N. and Martha Hartmen Richardson. She moved, with her parents, to Vermillion County when she was five years old. She had lived in the Gessie and Rileysburg areas since then. She attended Central Normal College in Danville, Ind., and had taught three years at the Highland Township School in Vermillion County. She was a well-known and gifted seamstress. Miss Richardson is survived by: one sister, Mrs. Edna Hanna of Perrysville; one brother, William M. Richardson of Covington Rt. 2; six nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Hegg Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Covington, officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.   --waw
