Charles E. "Chick" Richey, 70, of 307 E. Washington, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1971) at Carl's Pool Room in Attica. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been under treatment for several years for a heart condition. Born Dec. 11, 1900, in Rosedale, he was the son of Edward and Martha Towell Richey. He had resided in Parke County until coming to Attica in 1908. He was married Sept. 9, 1922, to Mildred Auter, who survives. Mr. Richey attended Attica schools and was employed at Harrison Steel Casting Co. for 10 years. He later opened Richey's Candy Store which he operated for 28 years. He was a member of the National Guard and Attica Christian Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He also was a member of the Wabash Masonic Lodge 708 where he was a past master, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 125 and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Survivors include his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Lee of Attica and Mrs. Dora Love of Spencer, Ind.; two brothers, Eddie of Attica and Leroy of East Chesapeake, Va. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a son, Wayne Earl, who died in 1926. Services Thursday at the Dale Maus Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry C. Randolph officiated.
