Mrs. Emma Riffle, age 79, a native of Fountain County, stepmother of Mrs. Blanche Auter of Covington, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, at a hospital in Santa Cruz, Calif. She had been a patient there since Aug. 6, when she suffered a stroke. Born March 16, 1883, in Fountain County, she was the daughter of David and Sarah Brown Hall. She was married Jan. 24, 1909, to Ira Riffle, who preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1953. They resided in the Veedersburg area until 1919 when they moved to Watsonville, Calif. Survivors include three stepdaughters, Mrs. Blanche Auter of Covington, Mrs. Edna Carey of Danville and Mrs. Emma Tompsette of Portland, Ore.; a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Boatman. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Friday at the White Funeral Home in Watsonville, Calif., with burial there.   --typed by Walt W
