Funeral services for the Rev. Herbert Wayne Riley, age 57, pastor of the Covington Church of the Nazarene, who died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Arthur C. Morgan officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Attica. The Rev. Riley died in the Community Hospital at Williamsport where he had been a patient six days. He was born March 29, 1906 in Wabash Township, Fountain County, the son of Howard and Sarah Redman Riley. He was married March 22, 1930 to Mary Pauline Alexander, who survives. In addition to pastoring the local Nazarene Church, the Rev. Riley was employed at the Harrison Steel Foundry in Attica. For the past five years, he had been chief of the guards. He moved to Covington from Attica four years ago. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: one daughter, Mrs. Mary Johnston of Otterbein Rt. 2; two foster children, James L. at home and Sharon Kay Davis of Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Mable Beedle, Mrs. Ruth Stetler, Mrs. Hazel Godfrey and Mrs. Alberta Baird, all of Attica; two brothers, Charles of Attica and Robert of Lafayette; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children and two sisters. Pallbearers were: Merle Wiggle, Ralph Fink, Ed Craft, Hugh Sheridan, Herschel Chapell and Albert Cushman. The Nazarene ministers of this district served as honorary pallbearers.   --typed by Walt W
