Hillsboro, April 20 – Mrs. Harriet Rivers, aged 80 years, widow of the late John J. Rivers died at her home here early Sunday morning her death being due to pneumonia from which she had suffered for the past two weeks. She was the daughter of Joel Glasscock and was born on a farm on Scott’s Prairie southwest of Hillsboro Jan 26, 1845. She was the last survivors of a family of three children. On Nov 16, 1865 she was united in marriage to John J. Rivers and they went to housekeeping on a farm the home of his parents in the Antioch neighborhood northeast of here where they remained until the fall of 1898 when they moved to Hillsboro. They were parents of four children, all of whom preceded them in death. Mr. Rivers died at his home here June 25, 1914.  The only surviving members of the immediate family are a granddaughter, Miss Harriet Cade, a high school teacher at Casey, Ill and three grandsons Kenneth Cade, a teacher at Veedersburg, Samuel Cade, a teacher at the Masonic home at Franklin and John Cade an electrician at Cicero, Ill.  The deceased united with the Scott’s Prairie church when young in life and later moved her membership to the Hillsboro Christian Church. The funeral services will be held from the Christian Church in Hillsboro Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. HA Davis of Clermont, a former pastor will conduct the service and interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery - kbz
