Thursday, Nov. 9, 1967 Garlen E. Roderick of near State Line, Ind., killed this morning when the tractor he was operating was struck by a Norfolk & Western Railway train northwest of Danville (see story on page one), was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Newell Township. He was a son of Simon and Tina Florence Schuff Roderick. He attended Newell Township schools and Danville High School. After schooling Mr. Roderick was employed in a foundry at Hoopeston and later entered farming. He had operated his own farm since 1932. He was married Dec. 24, 1931, in Danville to Ruth LaVerne Clapp, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John G. Tilton; two daughters, Mrs. William (Jo-Anne) Clutter and Mrs. Leo (Doris) Milius, both of State Line; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Lake, Danville, and Mrs. Opal Smith, New Richmond, Ind., and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Mr. Roderick was a member of the State Line Christian Church, the Vermilion County Farm Bureau and the Moose Lodge. His hobby was raising flowers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pape Memorial Home. Burial will be in Walnut Corner Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Robert Dorow will officiate.   --typed by Walt W
