ATTICA — Eula B. (Smith) Rogers, 87, 402 Oak St., Attica, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at her residence as a result of a house fire. Born Nov. 6, 1911 in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Edward W. and Myrtie Bowman Smith. She married Lester E. Rogers May 10, 1936 in Williamsport. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1995. She graduated from Coal City High School and the Indianapolis Beauty School. She owned and operated the Rainbow Beauty Shop in Attica for many years. She was a member of the Attica First United Methodist Church and was active in the Thrift Shop of the church. She was past president of the Bi-County Chamber of Commerce. She was a board member for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. She formerly had an aerobatics pilots license. Survivors include: son, Douglas (Paula) Rogers, Pinehurst, N.C.; sister, June Zearing, Westfield; brother, Carroll Smith, Coal City; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers; and a sister. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Attica First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Newton officiating. Maus Funeral Home, Attica, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Attica First United Methodist Church. – jlr
