WAYNETOWN -- Walter Runyan, 80, of Waynetown, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He was born in July 5, 1885 in Wayne Township, a son of George and Nancy Edwards Runyan. Mr. Runyan was married to Edith Rusk on Sept. 20, 1905 at her family's residence near Waynetown. Mr. Runyan was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, a 50-year member of Waynetown Masonic Lodge No. 302, a member of Waynetown OES, a member of the Shrine at Indianapolis and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a graduate of Waynetown High School and had been a farmer his entire life. Mr. and Mrs. Runyan moved here in 1952. Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Byron of Rt. 2 Waynetown and Elihu of Waynetown; three grandchildren, Edward Lee of Zionsville and Malcolm and Nancy, both of Waynetown; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Will of Canada. Three brothers, Howard, Clint and Davis, preceded him in death. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Myron Hinton and Dr. John Knight officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home
