SIMMERMAN, Orville V - DDS

Dr. Orville V. Simmerman, 76, former mayor and practicing dentist here for 50 years died at his home Friday evening following two years  of illness with a heart ailment.

Dr. Simmerman was born on a farm near Veedersburg, the son of James and Ruth Hole Simmerman and was married to Linna Luke who died in 1935.  He was a barber for a few years but later attended the Indian Dental College, graduating with the class of 1892.  

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Masonic Order.  Active in civic affairs, he served on the Board of Education and was mayor for several years.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ebinger, Los Angeles, Calif; and Mrs. Daily Cronk of Indianapolis.
The body was taken to the Fishero Funeral Home where services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning with Rev. O W McGaughey officiating. Burial was made in the family plot in Mt. Hope cemetery near Covington.   --- transcribed by kbz
