SIMPSON, Minnie Polk

Mrs. Minnie Lee Simpson, 96, died at 7 a.m. today in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Barbara Oshry of 705 Thornwood Drive. She was a member of the Christian Church. Born near Wallace on March 26, 1877, she was a daughter of James K. Polk and Clara Washburn. She married Thomas Jefferson Simpson. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Piehl of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Mrs. Bessie Dye of Crawfordsville; a niece, Mrs. Faye Nutt of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren, Mrs. Oshry, Fred Dye of Tuscon, Ariz., and David Dye of Warsaw, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John’s Episcopal Church here with the Rev. Duff Green officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home here after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
