Onnus B. Singleton, 70, of 803 Grant, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday (April 12, 1969) in Lake View Memorial where he had been a patient one month. Mr. Singleton owned and operated a shoe repair shop at 308 E. Main. He had been in business for 53 years. Born April 4, 1899, in Newtown, Ind., he was a son of John and Dora Strong Singleton. He was married Sept. 11, 1938, in Lima, Ohio, to Ethel Davis who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Kneeland of Rossville and Robert Lee Singleton at home; a brother, Chelsea, Danville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Singleton was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Orville, killed in action in Germany in World War II, three sisters and four brothers. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Curtis G. Redden American Legion Post 210. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Barrick & Son Funeral Home. Chaplain G. M. Leverenz will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7-9 tonight and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
