COVINGTON — Anna Elizabeth (McLain) Smith, 88, Covington, formerly of Williamsport, died at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in The Waters of Covington. She was born Dec. 6, 1917 in Stringtown, the daughter of Charles and Susie (Wolfe) McLain. She married E. Russel Smith in Covington. He preceded in death in 1983. She lived in Marshall and Tab before moving to Williamsport. She had resided at The Waters of Covington since 1997. She was a homemaker. She was formerly a member of the Hedrick Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons, Kerele J. (Barbara) Smith, Covington and Jim R. (Sandy) Smith, Williamsport; a daughter-in-law, Payton Smith, New York; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lonnie L. Smith; six brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, with Paul Kent officiating. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. – jlr
