COVINGTON – Mrs.
Catherine Jane (Jen) Smith, 85, a life-long resident of Covington, died 8:10
p.m. Monday Oct. 14, at her residence at 326½ Liberty St., Covington. She had
been in ill health the past year and seriously ill for six months. Mrs. Smith
was born June 11, 1883, the daughter of James and Laura Ann Hutson. She was
married July 11, 1900, to Jesse Smith, who preceded her in death on Sept. 30,
1956. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Helping Hand Sunday
School class, and the Wabash Camp 6070, Royal Neighbors of America, all in
Covington. Surviving are two sons, Everett, of Logansport, and Raymond, of
Danville, Ill.,; one daughter, Mrs. Laura Ellen Smith of New Castle; four
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Oliver Hutson,
Covington. The body is at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home where friends may call
Wednesday afternoon and evening. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at
