ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) -- Charles Russell Smith, 63, of 1000 S. Council, owner of the Smith Studio in Attica, died at 5 a.m. yesterday (Nov. 8, 1968) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient there one day. Born Jan. 13, 1905, in Attica, he was the son of Russell E. and Cora Beaver Smith. He was married in 1929 to Merle Stapler, who survives. Mr. Smith graduated from Attica High in 1924 and the U. S. Naval Academy in 1928. He formerly resided in San Francisco, Calif., returning to Attica in 1958. The Smith Studio has been in his family since 1898. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge at Attica and Elks Lodge at Lafayette. Other survivors include a son, Thomas R. of Tunisia; a daughter, Sheryl of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Virgil Robbins of Brook, Ind.; a brother, Edwin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Roemer Funeral Home. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Monday. The body will be cremated.   --typed by Walt W
