Lakeland, Fla.—Ivan B. Smith, 83, Lakeland, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 1989 in Lakeland Regional Hospital.
  He was a former Covington resident and was a retired farmer who went by the name “Hoosier Poppa” when speaking on citizens’ band radio.
  Surviving are his wife, Ruth M.; four sons, Robert, Noblesville, and Asa “Corky,” Loran and Carl, all of Lakeland; two daughters, Rhonda Carney, Lakeland, and Lois Keyes, Crawfordsville; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
  Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cham McMillen officiating. Burial was in Lakeland Memorial Gardens. – thanks to s
