MARSHALL — Funeral services for James G. Smith, age 85, native and former resident of Covington, who died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at his home here, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Davies-Tudor Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. William Flanagan officiated. Burial was in the Bend Cemetery, north of Covington. Mr. Smith, who moved to Marshall from West Lafayette six months ago, was born May 17, 1880, in Covington, the son of Thomas and Mary Piper Smith. He was a member of the Covington Methodist Church. He had been head groundskeeper for Purdue University's athletic facilities for over 28 years. He is survived by: his wife, Lennie; two sons, Cecil Smith Wilson of West Lafayette and James Clemens Smith of Naperville, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Edna Harris of Sarasota, Fla., and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Allen Allee of Marshall Rt. 1.   --typed by Walt W
