Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leota M. Smith, age 79, a resident of 405 Baxter St., Attica, for 38 years were held Saturday afternoon at the DeSutter Funeral Home, Attica. The Rev. Louis Haskel officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Smith, who had been a patient at the Allen Nursing Home since August following a long illness, died Thursday morning, Nov. 9. Born May 7, 1882, at Memphis, Tenn., she was the daughter of Leige and Mary Martin LaBaw. She was married Feb. 14, 1901, at Danville, Ill., to James S. Smith, who preceded her in death three weeks ago. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Salem Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Ralph of Attica and Robert of Ervine, Ky., two half brothers, Vivian of Palm Dale, Calif., and Alonzo of Indianapolis and two grandchildren., - typed by Walt W

Attica – Mrs. Leota M. Smith, 79 of 405 Baxter, Attica died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Allen Nursing Home, Attica.  Born at Memphis, Tenn, she was married to James Smith at Danville Ill in 1901.  He died three weeks ago. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Ralph Smith of Attica and Robert Smith of Ervine, Ky and two half brothers, Vivian LaBaw of Palmdale, Calif and Alonzo LaBaw of Indianapolis. - kbz
