Attica – Former Attica resident Mrs. Berniece Mildred Briggs Karlson Walter, 91, of Meadow Heights Nursing Center, Williamsport, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in Community Hospital, Williamsport. She had been in failing health.  She was born in Kansas in 1892 and attended school in Eagle Lake, Texas. An Attica resident most of her life, she later lived with a daughter, Mrs. Edna Mae Stanson of Thayer from 1968 until moving to the nursing home in 1976.  Mrs. Walter was a housewife and had baked pies for local restaurant sin Attica. Her hobbies included embroidery and traveling.  She was first married to Arvel Karlson in Lissie, Texas and he preceded in death.  In 1952 she was married, in St. Joseph, Mich to William “Happy” Walter who died in 1958. Surviving with the daughter, Mrs. Stanson are three other daughters: Mrs. Lewis (Pauline) Young of Attica, Mrs. Donald (Rose) Bowen of Montpelier, Ohio and Mrs. Carolyn Renick of Lufkin, Tx; two sons, Victor Karlson of Thayer and Edward Karlson of Attica; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Eugene (Madeline) Bier of Attica; one stepson, William Walter Jr. of Grand Rapids Mich and brother, Warren Briggs of Lissie, Texas. - kbz
