Cates - Donald D. Walter, 71, native of Cats, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday (30 June) in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. He was born Sept 22, 1894 in Cates, a son of William and Ida F. West Walter. He was married to Nellie Bernice Newnum. He was later married to Mabel Jones. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. jeanette Mathison of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Phyllis VanCleve of Albuquerque, NM and Mrs. Helen Beckley of Rt. 1, Perrysville; 11 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Marara of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by three daughters, a sister and a brother. Mr. Walter was an employee of Alcoa Aluminum of Lafayette before his retirement in 1959. Services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Hybarger officiating. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Cates, Ind - Donald D. Walter, 71,  a resident of the Cates community most of his life, died at 5:20 a.m. today (June 30, 1966) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient there three days.  Burn Sept 22, 1894 at Cates, he was the son of William and Ida F. West Walter. He was married to Nellie Bernice Newnum and later to Mabel Jones. He retired from the Alcoa Aluminum Plant at Lafayette in 1959.  Other survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Jeanette Mathison of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Phyllis VanCleve of Albuquerque, NM and Mrs. Helen Beckley of Perrysville Rt 1, a sister, Mrs. Ruby Marana of Veedersburg and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters, a sister and brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. Burial in Coal Creek Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
