ATTICA — Robert R. Ward, 79, formerly of Attica and had been residing at 6424 E. Star Valley St., Mesa, Ariz., died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1923 in Attica, the son of William T and Leota L. O'Connor Ward, Sr. He married Betty L. Marlatt July 3, 1945 in Attica. She survives. He was raised in Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1941. He had lived for 14 years in Elwood. From 1980-1992 he lived in the Lafayette and West Lafayette area. He moved to Mesa in 1992. He worked for the union of Plumbers and Fitters Local #157. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Wabash Lodge #709 F. & A.M. of Attica and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son, Tom M. (Sherry) Ward, West Lafayette; a daughter, Terry (William) Wood, West Lafayette; a brother, David L. (Norma) Ward, Attica; a sister, Laurean Floyd, Attica; two grandchildren, Ian A. (Lynn) Wood, Kristina K. (David) Elsbury; and a great-grandson, Luke N. Elsbury. He was preceded in death by a brother, William T. Ward, Jr. and a sister, Marie Hayes. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 p.m. until Masonic Memorial Service time at 2 p.m., Sunday, followed by the traditional memorial service at 2:15 p.m. in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Bob Elness officiating. Memorial contributions may best be expressed with memorials to RTA Hospice Foundation, 1102 D. McDowell, Phoenix, Ariz. 85006, with envelopes being available at the funeral home. – jlr
