Funeral services for John William Watts, age 77, resident of 1222 Third St., who died at 7:35 p. m. Wednesday March 21, were held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Don Wade, pastor of the Covington Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Watts died in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient since March 12. He was born in Fountain County June 11, 1884, the son of James and Rebecca Lemmon Watts. He was married to Sylvia Murray Oct. 31, 1921 and she preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1960. He had worked at the Interstate Sand & Gravel Co., here as an engineer for 33 years, retiring in 1951. He was a member of the Christian Church at Tab. Mr. Watts is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Marie Gayler, 1223 Third St., one son, Murray J. Watts, Otterbein Rt. 1; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Mack Watts of Covington and several nieces and nephews. One nephew, John W. Watts was reared in his home from the age of six. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Pallbearers were: Charles Hegg, Frank Clawson, Robert Harden, Guy Smith, Carl Auter and Roy Auter. Honorary pallbearers were: Tom McGurk, Eddie O'Brien, Sam Frankeberger and Roscoe Holycross.   --typed by Walt W
