ATTICA, Ind. - Mrs. Sophia M. Watts, 84, died at 6 p.m. Friday (Jan. 9, 1970) at the Leslie Nursing Home in Buck Creek, Ind. where she had been a patient since Aug. 25, 1969. She had been ill for two years. Born at Portland Arch, Fountain County, Ind. on Feb. 12, 1885, she was the daughter of Peter A. and Sarah Miller Shaffer. She was married in 1905 in Covington to Charles M. Watts who preceded her in death in 1922. She had lived in Attica all her life and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clelia J. Vaughan, Lafayette, the past few years. Mrs. Watts had been a seamstress for Louis Nathan of Attica for 28 years. Surviving besides the daughter are a sister, Mrs. Belle Simpson of the Small Rest Home in Waynetown; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two sons and a daughter preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Monday in the DeSutter Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Randolph officiating. Burial will be in the Portland Arch Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. --- jlr
