Enos Westfall, aged 52 years, met with an accident yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Henry Brant, two and a quarter miles W. of Waynetown, which resulted in his death at a few minutes before six o'clock this morning. Mr. Westfall lives with Henry Stockdale one and a half miles W. of Wingate and was a roof painter by trade. He was engaged at this work when he met with the accident which cost him his life. He was engaged in painting the roof of a large barn and was on a roof ladder near the cone. Suddenly the ladder slipped and with it went Mr. Westfall. As the roof ladder struck the eaves another ladder was struck and all went down together. The fall was at least 25 feet and Mr. Westfall was rendered unconscious by the impact of the ground. He was picked up and carried into the Brant home but he never regained consciousness and died this morning at a time stated. The fall had caused a concussion of the brain and had ruptured several blood vessels of the lungs, besides causing numerous bruises and injuries. Mr. Westfall was a respected man by all who knew him and his untimely death is much regretted. He was a widower and left 3 sons. No arrangements have as yet been made.  - kbz
