Dorothy C. Bitter



Dorothy C. (nee Wurth) Bitter, died Thursday, September 3, at her residence in Springfield Township,at the age of 84 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ervin J. Bitter, loving mother of Barbara (Mrs. Louis) Jungkunz, Shirley (Mrs. Lawrence) Klems, Lois Ann (Mrs. Roy) Verderber, Nancy (Mrs. Robert) Blum, Mary Lou Uthus, Jim (and Rita) Bitter, Judith Weber, John (and Peg) Bitter and Tim (and Nancy) Bitter. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Wurth.

Mrs. Bitter was preceded in death by herhusband, one grandchild and one sister, Romilda Stephens.

A memorial mass was held at Assumption Church in Mount, Healthy, Ohio, on Saturday, September 5. Memorial donations may be made to the Ruth Lyons Children's Fund or a charity of your choice. Neidhard-Hensley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.





John R. Franklin



John R. Franklin, age 76, of Cleves, Ohio, died Saturday, September 5, in Brookville.

He was born September 25, 1921, the, son of Charles and Mary Grace (Fellows) Franklin. He wasretired from the Hamilton County Parks District as lake manager. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He married Cathleen Sheley in Lawrenceburg on October 24, 1981.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife; and one sister, Marion Phillips of Clinton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Services for Mr. Franklin are scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, at 2:30 p.m., at Jackman- Kercheval-Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Glen Haven Cemetery.





Susan Henson



Susan Henson, 543 Market Street, Brookville, died at the age of 83 years, on Saturday, September 5, at Oxford View Nursing Center,Oxford, Ohio.

She was born October 24, 1914, in Jackson County, Kentucky, the daughter of Everett and Sophia (McWhorter) Burns. She lived over 40 years in Franklin County and was married to Martin Edward Henson, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Henson had worked at the former Jay Garment Company in Brookville.

Survivors include five sons, David Henson, Marlin Henson, James Henson and Stephen Henson, all of Brookville, and Sherman Henson of Lawrenceburg; four daughters, Joyce Pullum of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rose Harding of Ross, Ohio, and Ruby Hunter and Patricia Henson, both of Brookville; one sister, Rhoda Rich of Milford, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, who died in 1970, she was preceded in death by three infant children, five brothers and two sisters.The Rev. Ronald Taulbee will officiate the funeral on Wednesday, September 9, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home, beginning at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family asks that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association.





Paul V. Holden



Paul V. Holden, of Brookville, formerly of Amelia, Ohio,died September 3 at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville. He was 91 years old.

Born January 21, 1907, in Highland County, Ohio, he was the son of Harry and Lida Jane (Pence) Holden. He had retired from Cincinnati Rubber Company. He was married to the former Annie Delaney, who preceded him in death on November 2, 1995. Mr. Holden was a member of the Moose Lodge in Amelia, Ohio.

He is survived by one grand-daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Patricia) Smith of Batesville, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one daughter, Dorothy Holden.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, September 8, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronald Taulbee officiating. He was interred at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Amelia. The W.A.T.C.H. Center of Brookville is collecting memorial donations.





Herschel E. Murphy



Herschel E. Murphy,. of 20012 Stacey Road, Metamora, died Saturday, September 5, in Fayette Memorial Hospital, Connersville. He was 75 years old.

He was born January 17, 1923, in Lee County, Kentucky, the son of McKinley and Katherine (Mays) Murphy, both of whom preceded him in death. He had lived in the Metamora area more than 40 years. On June 12., 1945, he married Ann Boyd Flannery, and she preceded him in death on January 6, 1944. Mr. Murphy retired from Hillen- brand Industries after being a sander there for 29 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are.five sons, James E. Murphy of Brookville, Glen Murphy, Aliton Murphy and Steve E. Murphy, all of Metamora, and Herschel Lynn Murphy of Connersville, three daughters, Mrs. Fulton (Florence) Bush of Beattyville, Kentucky, Mrs. Ray (Betty) Friend of Connersville and Mrs. Robert (Zada) Wolfe of Town Creek, Alabama; a brother, Arthur Murphy of Owenton, Kentucky; a sister, Edith Flannery of Salem; 19 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, at the Metamora Church of Christ with the Rev. Ron McCollough officiating. Entombment will take place at East Hill Shrine Mausoleum in Rushville. Moster and Cox Mortuary of Rushville is in charge of arrangements.





David D. Cason



David D. Cason, age 30, of Rural Route 1, Bath, died early Thursday morning, September 10, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on the morning of Friday, September 4.

He was born on February 12, 1968, in Oxford, Ohio, to Wilbur, Jr. and Marjorie (Sayers) Cason. He was an antique refinisher and worked some as a roofer. Mr. Cason lived in the College Corner area all his life.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Judy Smith of Bath; one daughter, Nicole Cason (at home) of Bath; his mother, Marjorie Sayers Cason of West College Corner; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Gina Cason of College Corner, Ohio and Mike and Sandy Cason of Oxford, Ohio; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Becky Maggard of Hamilton, Ohio, Barbara and Roy Moneyhun of Palm Bay, Florida, Cindy and Brent Slade of West Manchester, Ohio, Debbie Day and Janie Cason, both of West College Corner, and Jeanie Dunham of Hamilton, Ohio; a special friend,Jeff Fox; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1984 and one brother, James P. Cason, who died March 27, 1998.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 14, at Showalter- Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner, Ohio. Interment followed in College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner.





Sister Agnese Naberhaus



Sister Agnese Naberhaus,O.S.F., 61 years old, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Sunday, September 13, at the St. Francis Infirmary, Oldenburg.

She was born June 24, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard and Hilda (Geis) Naberhaus. She entered the convent on February 2, 1955 and made her final vows August 12, 1960. She taught at schools in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. After retiring from teaching, she served as secretary and receptionist for James of the Valley in Cincinnati and for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Sister Agnese is survived by one sister, Elfreda of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one brother, Paul, of Loveland, Ohio.

Her funeral service was held Tuesday evening, September 15, at the Motherhouse Chapel, with Father Raymar Middendorf officiating. She was laid to rest in St. Francis Cemetery. Weigel Funeral Home of Batesville handled arrangements.





Marion Raisbeck



Marion Raisbeck, formerly of Cambridge City, died at Elsie Dreyer Special Services in Brookville, on Friday, September 11. She was 90 years old.

She was born on March 22, 1908, in Wisconsin.

Following her cremation, additional ceremonies or services will be arranged for at the convenience of her family. Cook Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.





Clydia R. Siebert



Clydia R. Siebert, age 82, of Brookville, passed away Thursday, September 10, at Hillcrest Estates in Liberty.

Born August 12, 1916, in Fl.emingsburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Seth and Ruth (Blanton) Hughes. On January 23, 1944, she and Robert W. Siebert were married in Richmond. Mrs. Siebert lived most of her life in Franklin County and worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Valley Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons, Robert J. (and wife, Mary Beth) Siebert and Gary K. (and wife, Connie) Siebert, all of Brookville; one daughter, Beverly (and husband, Ronald) Shell of Albany, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and her husband, who died in 1971.

Pastor Bill Holly conducted the funeral on Monday, September 14, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home. Mrs. Siebert was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Franklin County EMS.





Phyllis J. Smith



Phyllis J. Smith, 300 East Fifth Street, Brookville, died at Brookville Healthcare Center, on Friday, September 11, at the age of 70.

She was born to Charles J. "Barley" and Hester (Sears) Deutsch on July 30, 1928, in Brookville, and she remained a lifelong resident of Franklin County. She became the wife of Raymond K. Smith on October 23, 1948, and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1973. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Beta Eta Chapter of Tri Kappa and had been an active supporter of the Humane Society. She retired in 1986 from Owens-Coming where she had been employed for nearly 40 years.

She is survived by one brother, Robert P. Deutsch of Tacoma, Washington; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Donald J. and Betty Smith of Brookville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Smith will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Gary W. Anderson will officiate. Home Care and Hospice of Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville, is collecting memorial donations.





Chester Wyatt



Chester Wyatt,87 years old, of Brookville, died Wednesday, September 9, at his home.

He was born August 23, 1911, in Jackson County, Kentucky, the son of John and Lillian (Price) Wyatt. He retired from Campbell Hausfeld in 1973. Chester gave his heart and life to the Lord in 1937 and responded to God's call to the ministry in 1947. He evangelized and pastored in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He was a charter member of the New Haven Church of God and founded the Church of.God in Connersville. He leaves his family with a rich spiritual heritage, as sons and grandsons are carrying on his ministry. He married the former Dona Woods in Rogersville, Tennessee, and she survives.

Others surviving are two sons, Shelby Neal Wyatt of West Harrison and Chester Michael Wyatt of Brookville; two daughters, Eileen Bowden of North Port, Florida and Imogene Hamon of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Ethel Skinner of Hamilton, Ohio and Celia Hurley of Savannah, Georgia; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Wyatt, and two Grandchildren.

The funeral was held Saturday, September 12, at Jackman-Kercheval-Meyers Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, located in Hamilton, Ohio, with Brother William Slagle officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Margaret Mary Hospital Hospice.





Amanda Zins



Amanda Zins, seven week old daughter of Richard and Louisa Zins of Manassas, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 8.

Besides her parents, she is survived by an older broher, William, and grandmother Joan Zins of Brookville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Foundation.

Services will be held at a later date at Manassas.





Robert R. Banks



Robert Rose Banks, of Fairbrook Manor, Brookville, a former Blooming Grove resident, died at the Franciscan Hospital, Mt. Airy Campus, Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, August 20. He was 83 years old.

Born February 22, 1915, in Fayette County, he was the son of Gregg and Mabel Rose Banks. On June 15 1937, he married the former Wilma McWhorter. He farmed in Blooming Grove Township for 50 years and drove a school bus for 12 years for the Franklin County schools. Mr. Banks was a member of Fairfield Masonic Lodge #98 for 50 years and the Brookville United Methodist Church and served as Blooming Grove Township trustee for eight years.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; three daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Joe) Jonas and Beverly Banks, both of Brookville, and Betty (Mrs. Henry) Goodwien of Pompano Beach, Florida; one son, James (and wife,Diane) Banks of Richmond; four grandsons, Bob and Jeff Jonas, Greg Goodwien and Frank Banks; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Minnie Walthers of Brookville.He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Rev. Donald Miller officiated the funeral on Monday, August 24, at Cook Funeral Home. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. Family members and friends served as pallbearers, including Bob and Jeff Jonas, Greg Goodwien, Frank Banks, Tom Banks and Tim Hofer. Memorial contributions may be directed to Franklin County E.M.S. or Brookville United Methodist Church.





Mary L. Bath



Mary L. (Kuehn) Bath, age 81, died Monday, August 24, at Tucson Medical Center, Tucson, Arizona, after a short period of illness.

She was born in Brookville on May 13, 1917, to William and Matilda (Suhre) Kuehn. Clifford Bath and Mary Kuehn were married on August 22, 1936 at the Holy Guardian Angel Church in Cedar Grove. Mrs. Bath was still an active member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Lodge, starting in 1939, in Brookville, and serving, in all of the local and state offices in Arizona in later years. She and her husband, who operated a furniture store in Brookville, moved to Tucson in 1956.

Surviving are one son, Noel Bath of St. Peters, Missouri; one daughter, Nichole Ardle of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Alvin Kuehn of Brookville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Mrs. Leo (Alma) Wagner; and two brothers, Walter and Francis Kuehn, all formerly of Brookville.

Burial services were held August 27 at East Lawn Cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.





Viola E. Braun



Viola E. Braun, 93 years old, formerly of College Hill, in Cincinnati, Ohio, died in a nursing home on Saturday, August 29.

She was born on September 27, 1904, in St. Leon, the daughter of Conrad and Amelia (Frey) Feller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Braun; six brothers, Adolph, Oscar, Norbert, Ernest, Claude and Eugene Feller; and three sisters, Stella Pflum, Hetwig Hoffman and Annie Feller.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral mass was Tuesday at St. Clare's Church, College Hill, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Bernard, Ohio. Memorials may be made to St. Clare School Educational Fund, 1443 Cedar Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224.





Marie C. Cooper



Marie C. Cooper, 712 Church Street, Brookville, died at Brookville, Healthcare Center, on Wednesday, August 26, at the age of 84 years.

She was born August 23, 1914, in Brookville, to George and Lena (Bernhart) Gardner. She and William Cooper were united in marriage and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1968. Mrs. Cooper retired from the Franklin County Health Department, was a former nurse at Brookville and county schools. She graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1938 and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. Cooper of Brookville and James A. Cooper of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Gardner of Brookville; and one sister, Geraldine Pence of Brookville.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.

The funeral was scheduled for Monday, August 31, at St. Michael Church, with Msgr. Louis Schumacher as officiant. Family members served as pallbearers. St. .Michael Catholic Cemetery was the burial site. In her memory, monetary contributions may be directed to the library or the building fund at St. Michael School. Cook Funeral Home assisted her family with arrangements.





Alma M. Deffner



Alma M. Deffher, 91 years old, a former Brookville resident, died Sunday, August 30, at Hospitality Hall Nursing Center, Batesville, where she had currently resided.

She was born November 15, 1908, to George and Elizabeth (Meyer) Pulskamp, in Franklin County, where she lived most of her life. On August 3, 1927, she and Alfred G. Deffner were united in marriage. Mrs. Deffner was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and worked as a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Naayers of Riverview, Florida, Sharon Singer of West Chester, Ohio and Vehna Dieckman of Batesville; one son, Dale Deffner of Brookville; one sister, Esther Bohland of Brookville; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died January 22, 1998; one son, Ronald Deffner; and one infant daughter, Wilma Deffner.

The funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 4, at St. Michael Church, with Monsignor Louis Schumacher officiating. She will be interred in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, between 4 and 8 p.m. A rosary service begins at 7:30 p.m. St. Michael School is accepting memorials.





Dora E. Hill



Dora E. Hill, of Surunan, died at the age of 86, on Thursday, August 27, at the Dreyerhaus in Batesville.

She was born February 7, 1912, in Hubbles Corner, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Fink) Rosemeyer. She became the wife of Russell Hill and he preceded her in death in 1957. Mrs. Hill worked as a homemaker.

She is survived by six daughters, Florence Lattire, Viola Campbell, Wanda Retzner and Deborah Miles, all of Sunman, Charlene Engle of Guilford and Agnes Evans of West Harrison; one son, Eugene Hill of Heath, Ohio; one sister, Hazel Judd of Riverside, California; two brothers, Alfred Rosemeyer of Lawrenceburg and Joseph Rose- meyer of Weisburg; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several step-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, those preceding Mrs. Hill in death were one daughter , Virginia Sams, and one brother, George Rosemeyer.

Dr. Daniel Leigh Nugent conducted the funeral service on Saturday, August 29, at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman, with burial following at St. John Cemetery Hubbles Corner. Family members were chosen as pallbearers. Memorial contributions were directed to the Cemetery Association, Sunman Area Life Squad and SunmanVolunteer Fire Department.





Frances M. Jonas



Frances M. Jonas, a former Brookville resident, passed away Sunday, August 23, at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 85.

She was born to Charles and Rhoda Hoffman on May 11, 1913, in Franklin County. She became the wife of Jerome Jonas on April 21, 1936 at St. Michael Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1996. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Batesville and Tri Kappa Sorority in Brookville. Mrs. Jonas was a retired school teacher who began her teaching career at Whitewater School. Following that, she taught at Brookville High School for many years until her retirement. She later went back to teaching at St. Michael Elementary School in Brookville and, in 1977, moved to Batesville and taught at ICA in Oldenburg, until her eye sight failed.

Survivors include four daughters, Alice Thielking, Ruth Nobbe and Ellen Davis, all of Batesville, and Suzanne Ward of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Charles "Chuck" Jonas of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Margery Montgomery, a former Brookville resident; two brothers and one great-grandson.

Services for Mrs. Jonas begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Humbert Moster, O.F.M., officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Her family requests that memorials be made to Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. Meyers Funeral Home of Batesville was in charge of arrangements.





Eldon E. Morris



Eldon E. Morris, 59 years old, of Indianapolis, formerly of Batesville and Moores Hill, died Saturday, August 22, as a result of a car accident which occurred on Interstate 74 in Decatur County.

He was born October 16, 1938, in Indianapolis. In July 1998, he retired from Hill-Rom Industries in Batesville. Mr. Morris was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Moores Hill, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Batesville, as well as the HAM Radio Operators Association.

Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Glover of Indianapolis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His stepfather, Allen Glover, preceded him in death.

The funeral, conducted by the Rev. Charles Flory, was held Monday, August 24, at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. On Tuesday morning, he was interred in Memorial Park East Cemetery, located in Indianapolis. The Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge is accepting memorial donations.





John E. Myers



John E. Myers, of Lawrenceburg, died at Dearborn County Hospital on Tuesday, September 1.

He was 66 years old.He was born in Brookville on February 3, 1932.

Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Donald Myers of Rising Sun; three step-sons, Wayne and Dale House, both of Aurora, and Michael House of Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Deborah Cato of Lawrenceburg; one step-daughter, Susan Ingle of Aurora; two brothers, George Myers of Waynesville, North Carolina and Robert Myers of Aurora; two sisters, Geneva Himelick of Richmond and Edna Green of Eaton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren andseven great-grandchildren.

Rev. Andy Simms will conduct the funeral on Friday, September 4, at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, 455 Ridge Avenue, Lawrenceburg, beginning at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m.





R.J. Schoettelkotte



He was born March 10, 1943, in Batesville, to Raymond and Ada (Baechle) Schoettelkotte. He and his wife, Pam, were married July 27, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she survives. Mr. Schoettelkotte was a retired banking and financial advisor for the Republic Bank of New York.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Chris and Todd Schoettelkotte, both of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Betty Beneker of Harrison, Ohio, Margie Harmeyer of Batesville and Jean Leising of Oldenburg; one brother, Jim Schoettelkotte; and one grand-daughter, Haley Schoettelkotte ofHouston, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville, with Father Bill Farris officiating. He will be interred in the church cemetery. His family requests memorial contributions be made toBatesville Rescue 10 Lifesquad.





Bessie Lee Seevers



Bessie Lee Seevers, of 9541 North Dearborn Road, Guilford, died at her home on Friday, August 28. She was 79 years old.

Born September 19, 1918, in Burtonville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Herman and Mary (Breeze) Webb. She became the wife of Earl Seevers and he preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Seevers worked as a homemaker and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Hubbles Comer and a 45 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, New Alsace Post.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlyene Stamp of Sunman; two grandchildren, Heather Addison and Brian Flynn; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clarence Webb of Guilford.She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Nancy Hill; one infant son Wayne; two brothers; one sister; and four grandchildren.

Dr. Daniel Leigh Nugent officiated the funeral on Tuesday, September 1, at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. She was laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery, Hubbles Corner. Joyce E. Simpson



Joyce Elnora Simpson, of Batesville, died at the age of 58, on Monday, August 3 1, at her home.

She was born to George and Nora (Baker) Reidenbach in Brookville on October 11, 1939. She became the wife of Ronald Simpson on November 27, 1957, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Brookville, and he survives. The couple owned and operated Simpsons IGA in Batesville for many years. She is a member of Batesville United Methodist Church and had also taught Sunday school for many years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Shotwell of Arcadia, Pamela Flodder of Batesville and Beth Simpson of Austin, Texas; one son, Todd Simpson of Connersville; five grandchildren, Clayton Shotwell, Emma Flodder, Ethan Shotwell, Lee Flodder and Lucas Shotwell; one brother, Sylvester "Bud" Reidenbach of Indianapolis; two Sisters, Martha Minor and Wilma Reidenbach, both of Harrison, Ohio; and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two nephews; one brother, Donald Reidenbach; and one sister, Ruth Adams.

The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, at 11 a.m.(slow time), at Batesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Memorial donations may be sent to Margaret Mary Hospice. Meyers Funeral Horne of Batesville is assisting the family with arrangements.





Mary Belle Stewart



Mary Belle Stewart, of Chelsea,, Michigan, formerly of Brookville, died Saturday morning, August 22,at the Chelsea Retirement Community, where she had residedsince March 10, 1992.

She was born to William and Mabel (Garrison) Stewart, on December 13, 1911, in Brookville. Miss Stewart received her BA degree from Cincinnati Training School in 1934 and in May of 1938 was accepted into the office of deaconess on probationary period. She was licensed and consecrated a deaconess in June, 1940. She served from 193 8 until her retirement in 1972 in the Detroit conference. She was a member of Royal Oak First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was a fieldworker for Methodist Union of Detroit for 19 years. She received the Spirit of Detroit award in 1984 and the Outstanding Christian Service award of the Detroit Annual Conference in 1984.

Surviving are one brother, Carl I. (and wife, Pearl) Stewart, and one sister, Mrs. Loren (Helen) Murphy,both of Brookville; 11 nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford, Howard and Frank.

Graveside services and burial will take place Friday, September 4, at 10 a.m., in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, with the Rev. Donald Miller, of the Brookville United Methodist Church, officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Brookville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Staffan- Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Michigan.





Elva Wilson



Elva Wilson, 94 years of age, of 625 McCann Street, Connersville, passed away Wednesday, August 26, at her residence. She had been in failing health for the past three months.

She was born April 12, 1904, in New Castle, the daughter of Charles S. and Mary Jane (Smith) Wyatt, both of whom preceded her in death. She lived on a farm in Franklin County for 70 years, prior to coming to Connersville in 1987. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Baptist Church in Andersonville. She was married January 1, 1920, in Richmond, Kentucky, to George Wilson. He died June 5, 1979.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Virginia) Fox of Rushville, Mrs. Opal (Mildred) Burch, Mrs. Larkin (Hazel) Cornett, Jr. and Mrs. Mae Callahan, all of Connersville; one son, Robert Wilson of Metamora; one brother, Thomas Wyatt of Connersville; one sister-in-law, Julie Conklin of Connersville; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great- great-grandchildren. Also, her caretaker, Betty Cullers of Connersville, survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl Wilson; a daughter, Ruth Burch; a granddaughter, Earlene Wilson; two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 29, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, with Dr. E.G. Robertson and Mr. Eric Hopkins officiating. Burial took place in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorialsare being accepted by the Heart Fund.
