Be it remembered that on the 3d day of March, AD 1840, personally appeared before me the undersigned Justice of the Peace of said County William W. Carson, a respectable freeholder of the neighborhood of Joseph Merrell dec'd who being by me duly sworn on his oat solemnly saith that the above appraisement made by him and John Wynn is just and true to the best of his knowledge and belief and further saith not.
