MUNCIE — Doyne Eugene “Shorty” McCammon, 83, of Muncie, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Born Aug. 14, 1925 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Roy and Mary E. (Hill) McCammon.

On April 4, 1948 he married the Edna Brock, in Morganfield, Ky.

He graduated from Francisco High School. He served in the Army Air Corp in 1945. Doyne was employed by Warner Gear for 39 years as a grinder and retired in 1987.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Edna McCammon; three daughters, Theresa Hart (George) of Muncie, Denisa Roderick (Mike) of Muncie, Melisa Grinnen (Brad) of Indianapolis; sister, Helen Sheppard of Terre Haute; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Eula Lawson; half-sister, Jane Adams; brother, Robert McCammon; and half-brother, David Houghton.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. Ind. 3 Muncie, with pastor Lane Fairchild officiating. Burial was in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Military rites were provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
