PRINCETON — SFC Mitchell Christopher Gibson, U.S. Army, 37, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at home.

Mr. Gibson was employed at Toyota as a team leader in body welding for eight years and a member of St. Boniface and Holy Redeemer Catholic Churches.

He was a decorated member of the United States Army serving in the 1st and 398/2/98 Division (BCT). He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal and the Armed Forces Service Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea Gibson; daughter, Emma Lou Gibson; mother, Dianne Gibson of Franklin; brother, Matt Gibson of Greenwood; and grandmother, Cecile Forsthoefel. He is the loving uncle of William and Maggie Gibson, Katie Pipken and Maddi and Mason Weightman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Paul Gibson and grandfather, Dr. B.H. Forsthoefel.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Kenneth Herr officiating. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. (eastern) Monday, Aug. 31 in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, where military rites will be conducted.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St., Evansville and from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
