PRINCETON — Margaret Earlene Key, 89 formerly of Princeton, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Provena Villa Franciscan in Joliet, Ill. where she resided for the past few years.

She was born May 27, 1920 in Etowah, Tenn. to Elijah Earl and Margaret (Cooper) Shouse.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton. She taught library school for 30 years at the Princeton Public Library.

Earlene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Ann and Robert Hughes of Princeton; sons and daughters-in-law, John Earl and Ann Key of Merritt Island, Fla., David Charles and Mary Key of Joliet, Ill., Paul Edwin Key of Princeton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Monroe Key in 1978; and a brother, Marlin Shouse.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. (central) Monday Aug. 31, 2009 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute,with the Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will follow.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.
