OAKLAND CITY — Dickie L. (John) Sharp Sr., 73 of Oakland City, passed away Friday Aug. 28, 2009 at home.

Born Oct. 25, 1935 in Pike County, he was the son of Thurlow and Helen (Hopkins) Sharp.

He retired in 1997 from Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville, after 35 years of service.

Survivors include, his wife of 53 years, Arlene R. (Hale) Sharp; daughter, Rebecca (Bob) Williams of Oakland City; sons, Dickie L. Jr. (Stephanie) Sharp of Winslow,Kevin (ShaRhonda) Sharp of Winslow; brother, Jerrall (Brenda) Sharp of Winslow; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parent’s; sisters, Nina L. Edrington, Judy Kay Sharp; and brother, Jack J. Sharp.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.. (eastern) on Tuesday Sept. 1, 2009 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clint Woolsey will officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery near Oakland City.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. (eastern) Monday and 9 a.m. (eastern) Tuesday until the service hour on at the Chapel.
