EVANSVILLE — Marjorie (Foley) Evans, 94, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 at her home in Evansville.

She was born Aug. 28, 1915 in Casey, Illinois to William and Harriet (Claybaugh) Foley.

She attended the Old North Methodist Church in Evansville and she was a former member and very active at the former St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Princeton. She worked at DeJongs in Evansville for several years. She was a member of the Golden Fleece Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she was the Worthy Matron and held several state offices. She was a former member of the White Shrine.

Marjorie is survived by her three sisters, Estella Herman of Houston, Texas, Joyce Speedy and Juanita Utley both of Evansville; grandson, Leigh Allen (Patty) Evans of Greenwood; two great grandchildren, Kailey and Bailey Evans; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hurst of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren Leigh Evans in 1970; son, George Evans in 1981; four brothers, Lewis, James, Ross and Kenneth Foley; sister, Mary O’Leary; half brother, Floyd Foley; and half sister, Marie Davis.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday Sept. 11, 2009 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Mike Monahan, the Rev. Tim O’Leary and the Rev. Don Utley officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
