PETERSBURG - Buthel Harold Barrett, 90, of Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at home.

Born Feb. 11, 1919 in Pike County, he was the son of William and Bessie (West) Barrett.

He owned and operated Barrett Grocery on Ind. 57 for several years

He retired from Alcoa after 16 years of service. He was a member of Little General Baptist Church and a W.W. II veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathleen (English) Barrett; daughters, Sue (Ben) Brewer of Evansville, Marlena (Richard) Williams of Winslow; sisters, Hazel Schnarr of Otwell, Oliva Burkhart of Petersburg; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Floyd and Earl Barrett.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. (EST) Sunday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City with the Rev. Keith Jenkins and the Rev. Jack Hamm officiating.

Burial will be in Martin Cemetery near Littles.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. (EST) Saturday and from 10 a.m. (EST) until the service hour on Sunday at the chapel.
